With over three decades of experience as a Registered Nurse, the foundation of my clinical expertise was built in the high-velocity environments of the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit. After a deeply fulfilling career at the bedside, I transitioned into Care Coordination and Utilization Management at a major healthcare facility in St. Louis, Missouri. It was here that my perspective on our healthcare system fundamentally shifted.

Working within hospital operations, I witnessed a disturbing trend: insurance payers systematically and egregiously denying claims for care that was undeniably medically necessary. I watched as corporate algorithms and bottom-line-driven metrics began overrules the decisions of qualified physicians.

Driven to understand the mechanics behind these denials and to find a way to fight back effectively, I moved into the corporate consulting space. I spent years advising some of the largest healthcare consulting firms across the United States, dismantling complex denial patterns and mastering the regulatory frameworks that govern reimbursement. To truly understand the opposition, I also worked directly within the managed Medicare appeals team at UnitedHealthcare.

This unique trajectory gave me a 360-degree view of the healthcare revenue cycle. I don’t just know how hospitals document care; I know exactly how payers look for reasons not to pay for it.
